Project Description
In the spring of 2012, I began my foray into desktop 3D printing. Using money saved up from an internship at Holocene Technologies, I purchased one of the original UP! 3D printers during a clearance sale as new models were being released. This machine proved invaluable to prototyping my senior design project that semester. I was also able to quickly make useful things around the apartment like a replacement knob for our washing machine, and more questionably useful things like a skycam system for our living room.
A year later, I wanted to dig a little deeper into the technology and decided to build a bigger machine (pictured above) based on the open source RepRap project. Specifically I used the AO-101 by Lulzbot. All of the plastic parts for this new machine were printed using the UP! printer. Example projects made using these printers are shown below.
